How to Build a Footbag Golf Hole – The JR (James Roberts) Method

From the official rules of footbag golf:

402.03. Targets 

A.  Dimensions: The regulation size for a footbag golf hole is 18 in diameter and standing 18 off the ground.  http://www.footbag.org/rules/chapter/400#402

Materials:

• One 18-inch (~46cm) diameter lamp shade

• One piece of 5/16-inch All-Thread (fully threaded steel rod)

• Two each; washers, lock washers, and nuts to fit 

• Duct Tape

Assembly Time:  About 10 minutes

Pic 2 - cut all-thread. I should’ve just cut two pieces (vs. three) because I didn’t leave quite enough to sink a little deeper into the ground. There should be 6-7 inches. I left only about 5”.  Good enough, just won’t be as stable.

Pic 4 - mark 18” to know how deep to sink the all-thread

The mallet and 1-1/4” dowel rod in the Pic 1 are used to drive the all-thread into hard ground. The duct tape is something you’ll eventually need when the material on the lampshade starts pulling away from the metal supports. It’s better to tape it up before that happens.
